Today, Thursday 12 December, Microsoft New Zealand officially opened New Zealand's first ever hyperscale cloud region. From a sustainability perspective, the datacenter is using renewable energy provided by Contact Energy. The carbon emissions are captured and put back in the ground to provide all the electricity for the datacenter, providing an environmentally and power-friendly option for organisations in New Zealand.
